Welcome new Mountaineer to Appalachian State University and to the Appalachian Wesley Foundation! We are the United Methodist affiliated campus ministry here at ASU, but we are here to serve all students who are interested in nurturing their relationship with Jesus Christ during their college years.
There is no doubt you will find attending ASU a great privilege, but I firmly believe that your college experience can be something even greater by being involved in our campus ministry. Here at the Appalachian Wesley Foundation it is our mission to “make disciples of Jesus Christ” by reaching out to others, supporting and nurturing each other in our daily lives, worshiping God together as an authentic community of faith, and serving those in need. Of course we have intense fun hanging out at our campus ministry building, going on retreats and mission trips, playing intramural sports, tailgating before ASU home games, and much much more!!
We want to invite to our WILD WESLEY WEEK, which is our being Fall Kick-Off event during the first week of school (begins on August 24, 2008). The first Sunday you are on campus come to the Student Union around 9:30 AM and look for the table that says “Wesley Foundation” since there will be other groups there that morning for the “How to maintain Your Spiritual Life” expo. At approximately 10:15 a.m. we will walk to the Wesley Foundation Student Center (located between the Turchin Center and Valborg Theater - map) where you can learn more about our ministry. We will then take a bus to FaithBridge United Methodist Church where we will attend worship together. After the service we will enjoy the fabulous cooking of FaithBridge UMC. Following the free luncheon the bus will return you to campus in time for your next orientation meeting.
May God bless you and your family as you make the journey to the High Country and ASU! If I can be of any assistance or if you have any questions please feel free send an email (brad@charterinternet.com) or give me a call (828-264-9606). Also, there is lots of information here onour website, so please explore. All of us here look forward to meeting you and having you a part of our campus ministry!
In Christ,
Rev. Brad Farrington
Campus Minister
